Andrew Bird Concert Pictures/Video/Review
The Andrew Bird show on Friday night was fantastic. We all (Ty, Celeste, Me) drove up to Champaign a couple hours early, and it paid off since we had hands-down the best seats in the building. Front Row -- Just In Between the Martin Dosh (the drummer) and Andrew Bird.
Haley Bonar was very good, as expected. She performed a quiet, soothing set full of folky goodness. Martin Dosh was up next and he performed a couple of loop-heavy songs that he literally created piece by piece. It was a little like watching a weird musical science experiment. It sounded great though.
Then in the middle of Dosh's set Andrew Bird made his first appearance looking like he had just stepped out of a Charles Dickens novel. He started tuning his violin while Dosh finished out his last song. Then he jumped right into absolutely stunning performances of "I" and "Why". Our jaws were all dropped at this point. He started off laying down multiple violin-picking loops before switching between guitar, xylophone, and violin before the songs.
He played riveting and upbeat versions of "A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left" and "MX missiles" before playing a couple of new songs that proved that his next album will be just as satisfying as his last. Fake Palindromes, Skin Is, My and Tables and Chairs, and some freakin' incredible whistling were other highlights of the incredible (but far too short) set. We all left in awe of what had taken place in front of us. If you have the chance to see Andrew Bird live, do it!
I took some video on my camera of the a few songs, although I accidentally deleted some of the violin-heavy parts during the first part of the set.
I did catch some of my favorite parts from The Mysterious Production of Eggs on video including the beginning of Fake Palindromes, the bridge of Skin, Is My, and nearly all of Tables and Chairs. There's also a lot more pictures for you to view right here (thanks to Apples handy dandy new app, iWeb).

Out of all the videos, Tables and Chairs (Part 1) is the best, so make sure and grab that one first. Right-Click / Save Target As... to put them on your desktop. Sorry that the file sizes are so large...
