Sweet New Find - Arctic Monkeys!

I'm sure many of you think to yourselves, "how does these blogger types learn about this new music?" or "what methods do bloggers use to find music that is new?" Since I'm having server issues and cant' post anything, I'm taking this opportunity to tell you one of the many ways I personally discover new music. Catalog Ads! My favorite one is Best Buy, they have this fantastic section called "Find 'em First". This fits my needs perfectly because it shows artists who haven't been over-hyped by the media or that are all over television and magazines. They're motto is "Say you heard 'em before they were big" and this especially rings true with the band featured in this weeks article - The Arctic Monkeys!

The Arctic Monkeys are this new indie band from the UK that have a fresh sound. They are probably going to be pretty big according to the ad, so its good that I "found them first". I'm going to link to their myspace music page, which is this cool site where you can listen to a few tracks from the artists (I didn't need a best buy ad to tell me about that). I don't know if their album has come out yet but when it does you can get it for 7.99 at Best Buy (they are cheap and informative!). Luckily, you have me here to read these ads and tell you what's going to be hot, because if you were listening to the mainstream media, most of you would probably be listening to New Kids on The Block right now.

Go to the Arctic Monkeys Myspace!

Server Update: I'm using EZArchive temporarily. The last couple of week's posts are all up, download away!

Sadly, not the case in the UK. I come from the same city as the Arctic Monkeys and they've been the presses dolly birds for months.

If this is only my computer, then ignore me... but the Indie Interviews ad needs to be put on the next line because it's pushing the blue over your text!

Is it just me, or did Taylor really post this, or has he been hacked? He mentioned the Arctic Monkeys months ago, and the whole post seems to be selling catalog ads. And the post also seems to explain myspace, and Taylor is always linking to myspace.

Sarcasm never reads well without italics

italics... thats what i need. I thought the linked words to Saturday Night Live and NME would do it...

That's the most hilarious thing I've read all day.

Seriously, if you think you have hype over them in America, try coming over here. There is even a spinoff DVD out regarding the track 'scummy'. Awful, it's not even what the song is really about either (which is a notorious begger (I think you call them 'bums') in Sheffield who is always out at night begging near the big bars)

The most annoying thing is when people ask me if I've heard of the Arctic Monkeys, despite the fact I was the one saying "hey, you should listen to this band" a forgetful 2 years ago.

If you want some slightly less hyped but vastly superior music from Sheffield in a similar vain:

Little Man Tate are a great band; they offer 6 free downloadable tracks on their website - littlemantate.co.uk, unfortunately not including their single release "Agent." Perhaps unsurprisingly, they are being hailed by some unsavoury types as the new Arctic Monkeys, and have been getting more notice (but deservedly, though for the wrong reasons) over the past few months.

PS: I've never quite grasped sarcasm, I have a gullible trait
