Gemma Hayes

Gemma Hayes is an Irish singer-songwriter that might remind you of a more indie Alanis Morisiette or a more pop Laura Veirs. Either way, she definitely has a great voice and alot of talent. Here's three songs, the first one, Hanging Around, is an upbeat pop/sunshiny song, the second - Back of my Hand - is a bit edgier and has a good beat. I'm also providing a fun acoustic cover of Cindy Lauper's Time After Time (last seen in Napoleon Dynamite), that she recorded at a live radio session.

In other news:
Nathaniel posted about an accapella group called "Indie Rockapella" a couple days ago at i Guess i'm Floating. It's an enjoyable listen, not quite emocapella but still very cool. They do covers of "Come On! Feel The Illinoise!, Seven Nation Army, Annie Waits, Wrapped Up In Books, Rebellion (Lies) and more! Listen to them here.

Apple Computers has a new ad campaign that features Justin Long from Dodgeball (as Mac) and John Hodgman from The Daily Show (as PC). There's six ads and you can view them all here. Way to stick it to them, Apple!

lovely to see a post on gemma... great choice... and that's a great version of 'time after time' too. i hadn't heard that. i saw her support suede (!) at newcastle northumbria university union ages ago now and she blew the audience away... ('tear in my side' did it). the most recent album, 'the roads don't love you' is excellent as well. love your blog by the way. excellent taste.
