Merit is an indie rock band coming out of Syracuse, New York. They have a big sound that is often compared to The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, which is especially due to their strong female vocal presence. Their debut album produced a minor hit on Syracuse radio in Man on a String, and with their newest EP and a nation-wide tour they now have even bigger prospects. I'm posting the previously mentioned song, as well as two from their latest EP.

MP3 Man on a String
MP3 Penny Jar
MP3 Blue Bedroom

Merit's self-titled double EP is available starting today (good timing right). Get it here.

In other news:
I'm making the trip up to Chicago today (which explains the shortness of this post) to see Sigur Ros at the Civic Opera House. Should be a fun night. I'll try to take some pictures but we're on the second balcony so I don't know how they'll turn out.

In case you haven't already figured out, Stereogum and GvB has new Sufjan. I'm really liking Springfield. It has a very jarring guitar that might remind you of "Sister" from Seven Swans.
