Feeling' like some kinky Spanish electronica?

If you answered yes to the above question, you've come to the right place. The band is Kinky (no really, that's their name) and the album is Reina, which roughly translates to "It Reigns!" (or queen). Kinky is from Monterrey, Mexico and they are bringing the fiesta back the only way they know how--by getting you on the dance floor and laying down the beats. Bailamos!

The band spices up the tracks with a buzzy electronic bass line--if you're a fan of Cansei Der Sexy then you already know and probably love this sound. Reina is also Tropicalia inspired, which begs the question, what would CSS and OS Mutantes sound like, if they played on the same stage at this year's Pitchfork Fest? My guess is they'd probably sound like Kinky. One of the best songs is "Leon" which sounds like a sped up version of a Ratatat song (Panther sounds and all). Bonus points for having a song called "Sister Twisted" and one of the guys from Men At Work sing on the album. 80's Flashback!
