Goldenboy is a garage indie pop band started by Shon Sullivan who are releasing their sophomore album, Underneath the Radio, this year. Sullivan was formerly a member of the band Spain and has collaborated with both Elliot Smith and Neil Finn in his career. As an artist, his songwriting skills reflect much of Smith's work and also is reminscent of The Velvet Underground's more contemplative songs (See "Pale Blue Eyes").

That's not to say the album is completely depressing, there's songs like "Second Day of the Year" which could have pulled off of one of Belle & Sebastian's albums. In the song "Motorbike", the lyrics talk about finding yourself on rainy afternoons and I think if you ever find yourself doing that, this music could be the soundtrack. Just let the sounds of acoustic struming with jangly guitar interludes wash over you.

Ahh, a rainy afternoon!
Thanks for posting this- I love Motorbike- my husband was killed on his motorcycle, in full protective gear at low speed, when a 88 year old woman plowed into him... he'd have loved this song.
